6.12 my mission prezi thinks he's funny
So remember like 3 months ago when prez put me in a brand new area with a brand new missionary? he called me up the other night and this is about how the phone call was...
Prez: hna barker this isn't for sure but probably I'm taking you out of your area, putting you in a boujee area where they don't like Sister missionaries and your gonna train.
Me: oh. Thanks.
So yeah my time in Alto Selva Alegre has come to an end (rip) and just when I was starting to really enjoy walking the same 4 streets every day (sarcasm but lowkey I like this area and mi compa:(
So that's lamesauce but I am stoked out of my mind to get to train again. I kind of have the best job in the world, teaching everyone about how much jesus LOVES them.
Cutie isabella got baptized this week. She's 11 and literally as tall as me, which is how tall I was when I was 11, so it's all making sense now why all the boys were so short when i was young. She's so funny and says she remembers the premortal life (which sounds strangely similar to the movie soul...not sure if it's a memory or what but yay good for her.)
Played paintball today and i hit an elder in the face and also not in the face and he ran off the field to the bathroom yelping #sorrynotsorry
I am gonna miss this dang ward and their JAS do much. I've decided when I'm off my mission I just wanna hang out with peruvians because they are kinda cooler than like everyone else but ya know.
Carlos this week: has anyone ever told you you look like a celebrity?
(Me in my mind: rapunzel)
Him: CUZ people tell me I look like flynn rider.
Me and hna dr hoyos: ya um
The stake did a little acting theatre dress up like a book of mormon and try your best to act it out show. Was kinda adorable and it reminded me of when the brothers and I used to make our scripture vids on Sundays (if you haven't seen eglon and ehud on our barker bunch channel you're missing out)
This is our friend andres. He is 87 years old. I'm not sure if he understands anything we are saying but he wants to get baptized and gets himself to church all the Sundays on time, like earlier than some members. He is such a king although he told us this week that he married his wife when she was 12. And he was 28. Elder Peña told me today that that's apparently normal so maybe I take back what I said abt only wanting to be friends w peruvians....
Found Baxter again this week. He's the best LIM we have. Although he is literally always almost getting hit by cars. We almost got chased by these massive wolf dogs this week and I was frightened because hna de Hoyos literally WANTS to get bit so that she can have a scar. I on the other hand, know first hand that getting bit by a dog is not v pleasant and I would prefer to not relive it :)
We saw prez and hna chipman in the street one night cuz they live in our area. We chatted and they gave us chocolate and it was awesome it was like I saw my parents or somethin but also like a famous version of my parents because we only see the chipmans like every so often and usually it's por zoom.
Anyways I really like being a missionary. I'm excited to see how this next transfer goes, prez says this ward has thought hermanas are lazy and he needs someone fired up to go and teach there. Oh don't worry prez, my comp has told me I "have the spirit of an elder"...so om sure I'll be fine
So yeah life is good. I'm emo to leave because I feel like I put my ALL into this area and right now is when we're starting to finally see the fruits of our labors. I think that's sometimes how it is tho. Sometimes our purpose isn't to be the one. But just one.
Jesus likes the number one. But He doesn't say One is more important than the other One. So i dont have to be T.H.E. ONE to help them be baptized. Because really the nonetheless should be doing it for is Him. I'm just here for a moment trying to do my part to show my heart to others, to be part of their journey to come to Jesus.
I saw Jesus a lot this week. Where was He for you?
