4.1 The Rains Came Down
No not really. It did "rain" one day but it was pretty much like the mist setting on a garden hose. Still, it felt awesome to run through the "rain" in Peru.
HIHIHI. I hope you are all doing swimmingly. I am doing swimmingly. Other than the fact I want to go swimming. But only at 2pm, when it is blazing hot. The mornings are cold here and after 4pm I need my chompa (sweater. Not sure why it's called chompa because it sounds like something you'd name your pet crocodile). I get a VERY stern talking to the other morning when I walked to breakfast without a chompa, our cutie little neighbor who waits for us every morning to wheel her to the curb told me "in MY country, if you're sick they leave you to die" basically that because I shower in the morning and didn't have a sweater I'm toast. She encourages us every day to not bathe because of the infirmities we will contract. She's awesome.
No baptism this week, sad sad. But this SATURDAY we have the baptism of mafer scheduled!! Praying praying PRAYING because I love her. Her moms "esposo" told her he didn't want her to get baptized, but her mom stood up for her and basically was like too bad baptism is awesome. She's so right too.
This week I saw 3 different kids hula hooping or juggling at red lights and PEOPLE PAID THEM. LIKE AFTER THEY WERE DONE W THEIR TRICK THEY JUST WALKED BY CARS AND PEOPLE GAVE THEM COLD HARD SOLES. Loco. New business idea tate and Henry ^^^
I was not deported i am happy to report. I did go to Arequipa and they made me sign a bunch of papers and also counted my teeth and that was quite strange. They took my fingerprints like 70 million times so hopefully they don't frame me for any crimes here because they literally have every single fingerprint like 6 times over.
Arequipa was huge compared to tacna. I was frightened. But also the pizza hut there was so much better than our pizza hut. We played clue in the bus terminal, and sang karaoke Spanish songs on the bus ride back. Kinda the best little adventure.
I love our ward so much. We had a 20 minute conversation with one hermana while waiting for ward mission coordination about all the aliens that frequent the USA. which I did not know about but am now educated on that and the aliens that are frequent visitors de Peru tambien.
English class was so fun this week. It's getting easier to switch between languages but I still miss being able to just speak something I really know and others will understand.
Bienvenidos a Peru LJ.
Transfers were this week and I'm staying here and killing my comp (she has her last transfer with me and then goes home!) Kinda weird because we always are talking about stuff like school and marriage and life and I'm like oh yeah that's me so soon!! But actually not lol.
I had some amaaaazing scripture study this week. I love love love reading the scriptures and 16 year old Emma would be shocked to know I study them for an hour every day and actually like it. I am learning so so much, especially about how to be humble. I was reading in helaman this week about how the people in the Book of Mormon went through a phase of total righteousness. And it wasn't because they didn't fight, or didn't have issues with each other, or were all the same personality with equal goals and plans. It was because the love of God was in their hearts and that triumphs over all. We can still disagree. We can still be disappointed. We can have hard days. But in all of it, we can be a delightsome people because we know in whom we trust. If we just love God when it's hard to love other, everything else will just fall into place.
I love my savior! And I love you!!
