3.1 Best Ways to Dissapoint Peruvians

I'm writing this email in my casa en PERU!!! LOCO. I still can't really believe I'm here haha!

I don't have much to say, but we have a great ffa program lined up. *name that film*
But seriously my mind is un poco fried and so it's difícil to even remember what happened since a week ago I was in Ohio.

But to start I need to tell you how gringo i feel. I want to speak Spanish so BAD with the ward and especially my cutie compañera hma Bautista. Ella es de la Republica Dominicana!!!! My heart!!! She's so fun and cool and walks into traffic like it's nothing. And I am oblivious to traffic, am a head taller than everyone, and stand around like a dunce when someone asks me a question. I totally understand what people are saying until they ask me something simple like where are you from and all of a sudden I have yogurt for brains (which you drink here BTW. I've been doing that forever tho since I always forgot spoons for my lunch) Hence the first reason I disappoint the Peruvians. The second is because everyone thought my name was Hermana Parker, like the spideyman parker, and when they found out it wasn't they were very sad. And finally, everyone gets very excited to hear I am from Washington and they want to know about the Casa Blanca(white house). And then I have to tell them i am from the ESTADO Washington by Canada and they are Triste(sad).

This country is beautiful. I flew here with a couple of elders and STANLEY from the mtc so it was so fun to be with them. And i did know more than i thought in terms of spanish because all the new hermanas who flew with us could understand me. I think my brain has a maximum horas of spanish possible to use so thats why its hard. Elder Bowman from the mtc is in my district here so i got to chat it up with him today in ingles (blessings fr). I am in Tacna which is basically as far south as you can go without going to Chile. It's the middle of the desert (for real). I took a 7 hour bus ride with some other new missionaries (who all only spoke spanish) down here and when we were getting close to tacna it was like rocks rocks rocks BOOM! CITY. it's awesome.

All these dogs stand on top of roofs and bark. One stuck its head out of a hole and it was very funny.

The miembros ayer literalmente(members yesterday literally) fed us cada vez we visited them. We went to like 6 different houses and they all made us eat...I thought I was gonna lose the weight I gained in the mtc...I guess not.

Last night we saw la mano de Dios (the hand of God) so much. Ran into a friend who they've lost contact with, she's 26 and really struggling. My heart was so full watching my comp truly love this girl. My companion is a convert and she has an incredibly strong testimony and knowledge of the gospel. She was the first and only member of her family, but since going on a mission her sister has been baptized. Isn't that so cool?!?!  We went to the house of this sweet family. The mom (Ruth) is a member, and her novio (boyfriend) david is not. They come to church every sunday and he's been taught by the missionaries for like 3 years. They have 2 little girls, and live in this cement cuarto next to a pile of rubble. They have a tin roof and 2 rooms and a bano (bathroom) and I felt the spirit so. Strong. We talked about the word of wisdom, and i tried to speak my limited spanish. I have this bad habit of doubting if i say the words not perfectly that no one will understand me? But my comp said it was okay. Luciana the daughter who is probably 6, said the prayer at the end and I wanted to cry. You could feel the love she has for her Savior. I hope in everything I do I can be like that. :))

Love yall!! Fotos are in the Google album:) ps also found out the amigo eduardo sister oler and I were teaching is getting baptized the end of this month. Milagros!! (Miracles)
